Biography
Neomy was born in Poland and raised in Israel. She graduated from Monash University (1975) with a double major in Economics and Sociology. After extensive travel overseas, she returned to Melbourne and completed a Diploma of Education. Her first teaching position was at Collingwood College of TAFE (now Northern Metropolitan, TAFE), working with groups of migrant women undertaking vocational training. This teaching experience, together with her own experience of having to learn English as a second language, led to an interest in becoming an ESL teacher. She subsequently completed a graduate diploma in TESOL, and an MA and a PhD in Applied Linguistics. Neomy has developed and taught a number of ESL credit bearing subjects at the university. Her research interests are in the areas of ESL pedagogy, particularly the teaching of second language writing to advanced learners, and the nature of learner-learner interactions. She has presented and published widely on these issues.Selected publications
